Free PTE Mock Test Guide [2026]

When people search for a free PTE mock test, they often want more than a worksheet. They want an easy place to start and a useful clue about what to practise next. Search results can mix sample questions, trial lessons, and paid mock tests, so it helps to know what each option actually offers before you spend an evening clicking around.
I checked the current official and practice options. Pearson’s Smart Prep includes free Guided Practice Tests, while YoushowPTE has a five-question mini diagnostic that works without an account. Both can help you get started, but they serve different stages of preparation.
A short diagnostic can point you toward a skill to review; it cannot stand in for a full test or predict your final score.
01 Start with Pearson Smart Prep

For free official practice, start at Pearson’s PTE Academic preparation page and open Smart Prep. Pearson currently lists a study plan, four full Guided Practice Tests, sectional guided practice, video courses by skill, and test tips. You access the resources by creating or signing in to a myPTE account; you do not need to have booked an exam first.
Pay attention to the word Guided. A guided practice test is useful for learning the tasks and practising with support. It is a separate product from Pearson’s paid Scored Practice Test, which Pearson lists separately and describes as including a complete score report.
If your immediate goal is to learn the format and begin practising, Smart Prep is a sensible first stop. If you want a full timed run with a score report, check which product you are opening before you begin.
You can find the entry point on Pearson’s PTE Academic preparation page. Sign in, open Smart Prep, and note which resource you used. The available resources may change, so the list in your account is the practical reference when you return.
Keeping a simple record also saves you from searching for the same link again next week.
Treat your first session as a baseline, not a verdict. Set aside a quiet space and use headphones if the task needs them. Notice whether you understand the instructions, which question types feel unfamiliar, and when your concentration starts to slip.
If you get stuck, mark the item and keep going; checking every answer midway turns a practice session into an open-book browse.
02 Use a short diagnostic to choose your next practice

If you only have a few minutes, try the free PTE mini mock from YoushowPTE. It has five questions and takes about ten minutes. The set includes reading fill-in-the-blanks, paragraph ordering, dictation, and a short-answer item, and it does not require an account.
It is a light way to get started and see which basic tasks deserve more attention.
Five questions do not make a full PTE Academic mock test. The mini mock does not cover every Speaking, Writing, Reading, and Listening task. Its result shows how you answered that practice set; it is not a Pearson 10–90 score and does not predict your official result.
That boundary matters because the useful outcome is a next practice step, not a judgment about your exam readiness.
After the mini mock, sort errors by cause. If reading fill-in-the-blanks is difficult, review vocabulary and context clues. If paragraph ordering feels uncertain, write down the links you use to connect sentences.
If dictation loses words, check whether you missed the sound, could not hold it in memory, or lost an ending while spelling. A specific cause gives your next practice session a clear job.
Once you know the task types, move to skill-based or timed practice. Choose one weaker section for a short set, then use a full mock later to observe your pacing across a longer session. These formats answer different questions.
Short practice lets you repeat one skill; a full mock shows concentration, task switching, and time management across the test. You do not need to start by taking full mocks back to back, and a good mini-mock result is not a reason to skip a longer run when you are ready for one.
03 Turn each mock test into an actionable plan

At the end of a mock, I would put the total score aside for a moment and write down three observations: which task felt least certain, when you began to rush, and which error appeared more than once. Save the overall result for comparison, but a screenshot of one number rarely tells you what to practise when you open it again a few days later.
Choose one or two behaviours you can observe. In dictation, track missed words, endings, and spelling. In speaking, listen for long pauses, repeated starts, and unfinished responses.
In writing, check whether you addressed the prompt, wrote complete sentences, and repeated the same spelling errors. Practise a small set, then review the same kind of task again. You will have a better idea of whether your adjustment helped than if your only plan is to do more questions.
The best use of free resources is not collecting every link. It is connecting one practice session to the next. Pearson Smart Prep helps you work through official guided materials; a mini diagnostic is a quick starting point; sectional practice targets a specific skill; and a full mock shows how the whole session feels.
Write one sentence of review after each session, then choose what comes next.
If you prefer to keep Speaking, Writing, Reading, Listening, and review in one workflow, you can explore YoushowPTE. The platform offers question-type practice, AI feedback for Speaking and Writing, mini and full mock tests, practice records, and learning data. Visit the YoushowPTE official website to learn more.
Platform feedback and mock results support preparation; they are not official Pearson test scores.
Those first five questions do not need to tell you what score you will get. They only need to help you start, then make your next practice session more focused than the last.
